About

Dr. Olga Kovalchuk is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with extensive experience supporting the mental wellbeing of young people and families. In her private clinic in Haifa Dr. Kovalchuk she provides care for children and adolescents with a veriety of mental health and neurodiverse conditions, including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, conduct disorders, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, stress-related disorders, inter-personal and behavioral difficulties, self harm behaviours and emotional dysregulation, tic disorders. She has an extensive expirience in diagnosis and management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Condition.

Over the years, Dr. Kovalchuk has worked in inpatient, outpatient, intellectual disability, neurodevelopmental, eating disorder and substance misuse settings. She has an experience in treating many adolescents in a number of educational, therapeutic, post-hospital boarding schools, youth sponsored boarding schools and out-of-home settings for children with Autism and Intellectual Developmental Disabilities. She has skills in using a range of therapeutic modalities including Systemic and Cognitive Behavioural approaches, as well as Mindfulness and Mentalisation.

Dr. Kovalchuk is a graduate of the Hadassah School of Medicine of the Hebrew University. In addition, she holds a Doctorate (PhD) in Experimental Medicine from the Hebrew University and has published several scientific articles in international scientific journals.

After graduating from the Hebrew University, Dr. Kovalchuk completed an internship in Child and Adolescent psychiatry at the Ma'ale HaCarmel Mental Health Center.

Dr. Kovalchuk completed a three-year training in psychoanalytically oriented therapy at the Tel Aviv Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis. She also completed a training program in integrative Cognitive-behavioral Therapy (CBT) and has experience in CBT therapy in children and adolescents and in parental guidance.

After completing her internship, she served as a Consulting Psychiatrist in the Ministry of Education for the Northern Region at the Directorate for Settlement, Boarding and Youth Education. She worked as a Consulting Psychiatrist in a CBT Clinic in Haifa, in several boarding schools, in the Youth Village of the "Nirim" Association for the youth at-risk, in the "Afik" Hostel for Children on the Autistic Spectrum, "Hod" a Boarding school for Special Education of Children and Adults with Disabilities.

In recent years, she has been working in her clinic in Haifa, where she also provides psychiatric consultations to a number of educational boarding schools in the northern region, to the association "Kivinim" for young people with disabilities and young people on the autistic continuum, and to the therapeutic and post-hospital boarding school "Renanim".
